Please avoid changing the date between 8 PM and 4 AM. The date-change mechanism is already engaged, and manual intervention could damage the movement.
An electromechanical movement combines the complexity of a mechanical movement with the precision of a quartz movement. Comprising no fewer than 250 components, it is powered by a battery.
A chronograph is a watch fitted with an additional function that can be used by operating the pushers (start/stop/reset) to measure continuous or interrupted periods of time.
An automatic movement is a mechanical watch movement that is wound by the action of the user's wrist. A rotating weight (rotor) spins freely around a spindle, and each movement helps to wind the mainspring (power source), charging the power reserve. The watch's regulator is a balance wheel with a spiral that vibrates 6 to 8 times per second (up to 10 times in the Caliber 36 and 100 times in the Mikrograph). An automatic movement is composed of more than 70 parts (up to 480 parts for the Mikrograph), and the smallest of them is no thicker than a human hair (0.07 mm). All these mechanical components work continuously in unison, creating the effect of a smoothly moving second hand instead of a ticking hand. Although less precise than a quartz movement (by a few minutes per month), an automatic movement is the ultimate example of the experience and tradition of Swiss watchmaking.
A chronometer is a certified, high-precision timepiece that meets the stringent standards of the COSC (Contrôle Officiel Suisse des Chronomètres / Swiss Office for Chronometric Controls). Each movement is tested for 15 days, in 5 positions and at 3 temperatures while operating under very demanding conditions. To earn the title of chronometer, a mechanical movement, either automatic or manual, must meet the 7 criteria defined by the ISO 3159 standard and applied by the COSC. Regardless of external conditions, it must maintain an accuracy of between -4/+6 seconds per day.
Clean it with a dry, soft brush every 2-3 months.
Have your TAG Heuer serviced every 1-2 years to ensure the water resistance of your watch.
Have your TAG Heuer watch completely overhauled every 4–6 years to ensure its proper functioning.
Shocks. Although all watches are tested for impact resistance, you should still avoid violent shocks to your watch. Besides damaging its appearance, this can cause premature wear and tear on materials and components, which may affect the watch's performance.
Magnetic fields. Avoid leaving your watch near equipment that can produce strong magnetic fields, such as speakers, refrigerators, mobile phones, or magnets on bags or boxes, etc., as these may affect the watch's performance. We also recommend that you remove your watch when going through the body scanner at the airport.
Ensure the crown is fully pushed in (and depending on the model, screwed down) against the case in order to preserve its water resistance.
Leather straps are not advisable as they can be deformed/discolored by water. For frequent or prolonged use in water, we recommend a metal bracelet or rubber strap.
After exposure to salt water, rinse the watch in fresh water and then dry it.
The table below indicates appropriate activities for your watch's water resistance. These figures are for guidance only and do not represent maximum immersion depths.
It's a good idea to clean your watch every 2 to 3 months to maintain its appearance and keep it in good working order:
If it is water-resistant, ensure the crown is fully pushed in (and screwed down, depending on the model) against the case, and the seals have been changed or tested within the last 12 months. Only then is it safe to wash with slightly soapy water, using a soft brush. Rinse and dry with a soft, dry cloth.
If you have any doubts about your watch's water resistance, simply clean it with a soft brush.
Straps made of fabric, leather, alligator, or python should not come into contact with water. Remember, leather is a natural, living material and its color will fade slightly over time.
After each exposure to salt water, rinse the watch thoroughly with fresh water and then dry it with a soft, dry cloth.
If you do not regularly wear your automatic watch, we recommend either winding the mainspring manually using the crown unscrewed or in the neutral position (minimum 40 times and 100 times for the V4) or purchasing an automatic watch winder. This will ensure that the lubricating oil in the movement remains fluid. As with every micro-mechanism that operates continuously, an automatic watch movement requires regular maintenance.
*Certain models are equipped with an End Of Life (EOL) system to notify you that the battery is nearly flat. The second hand will start jumping in four-second increments, but your watch will continue to display the exact time until the battery is completely depleted.
TAG Heuer watches from the current collection are fitted with a scratch-resistant sapphire crystal that is not affected by general wear and tear, but extremely hard materials like diamond and intense rough treatment may scratch it. Some models are coated with an anti-reflective substance, a thin layer on the crystal, which eliminates reflected light, ensuring optimum readability. This coating is susceptible to scratches and can therefore give the impression that the crystal is scratched.
A non-radioactive material called Super-LumiNova has been used since 1998 to increase the readability of display elements on your watch. It works by absorbing light and re-emitting it in the dark. The duration of this effect depends on how long it has been charged by exposure to natural or artificial light.
In order to maintain the shiny appearance of your watch and avoid any premature wear and tear, we recommend that you avoid wearing another bracelet near your watch.
Uses alligator leathers sourced exclusively from breeding farms and assembled, sewn, cut, or padded by highly skilled craftsmen. These leathers fully comply with CITES (Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora) regulations. This is an international agreement between governments aimed at ensuring that international trade in specimens of wild animals and plants does not threaten their survival.
To provide extra strength, the first set of links on either side of the case are non-adjustable. This means the bracelet cannot be repaired by replacing the link; a new bracelet would be required.
Leather is a natural material that is stabilized by tanning, but its aging process depends heavily on conditions of use; a leather strap can last from several months to several years. The lifespan of a leather strap is affected by factors such as frequency of use, exposure to water, perspiration, etc. Frequent immersion in water and regular showers should be avoided.
